At Dobson and Surrey Ltd, we are committed to carrying out our operations in the safest way possible and operate a "zero tolerance" policy when it comes to accidents and incidents. We pride ourselves on our Health and Safety (H&S) Performance as a company and strive to continually improve.

As a contractor, our operations affect not only our employees but potentially our clients and also third parties who might be present whilst our works are being undertaken. As such, we ensure that our operations are not only in compliance with all of the relevant HSE legislation but are designed and monitored to minimise any risk to all parties.

This is carried out via comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) prior to works being commenced and also continually being assessed and amended where circumstances dictate.

On smaller works, our engineers carry out Dynamic Risk Assessments where situations and circumstances are not covered by the General RAMS for the works.

This allows us to then revise the General RAMS and thus improve our H&S performance.

Our employees are fully conversant in the most up to date H&S Training in order to maintain their ability to carry out the company operations to the H&S standards that we expect and require.

Our H&S Officer is IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Accredited having undertaken the Managing Safely Course.

This ensures that our company management is competent in understanding our responsibilities for H&S, assessing and controlling the risks of our operations, identifying hazards present in our work and environment, investigating accidents / incidents which may occur and also how to measure our operational performance to ensure we are constantly exceeding our targets for health and safety.

We are in partnership with Penshaw View Health and Safety Services who not only provide our training in key areas of the business (such as Asbestos Awareness Training) but are also our H&S Consultants.

Our relationship with Penshaw View Health and Safety Services ensures that we are compliant with all current Health and Safety legislation.

All our employees are registered with the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) (which is affiliated with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme - CSCS).

It is now almost impossible to gain access to a construction site without proof of identification, competence and qualification levels. ECS is the sole ID and competence card scheme for Electrotechnical operatives in the UK, and is recognised and endorsed by the industry.

The ECS card means employees can prove their identity, qualified status and occupation when working on-site.

Our employees are all registered with and carry an EMSS National Safety Passport. This provides unparalleled evidence of the holders HSE training and competence.

Our managers and supervisory employees have also undertaken the National Safety Passport Supervisors course. This ensures that all management of employees on site is carried out in a competent manner and fully in line with the HSE requirements of the site.

All of our company and employee training certificates are available on request.
